Hebrews 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion to look for a second.
Since the law covenant was powerless to save anyone, God planned before the foundation of the world for his only begotten son to be the mediator of a second covenant and give eternal life as a gift to all who believe in him. The remnant who believed God in the Old Testament were saved by the redemption that is in Jesus Christ just as New Covenant believers.
