36) The new covenant in the blood of Christ

Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

With the inception of the new covenant, the people at Ephesus and all people on earth were included in the offer of salvation through the blood of Christ. The special role for national Israel in redemptive history ended with the beginning of the New Covenant. The promise of the Old Covenant was fulfilled in Jesus Christ and the new covenant. The church began with this new covenant and includes all ethnic groups including both Jew and Gentile. As Paul states, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
