Ephesians 2:17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near.
Jesus Christ came and preached peace with God [Romans 5:1] to those who were far off such as the people of Ephesus and also to the Jews who were near. This passage and the gospels make it clear that the Jews were NOT a spiritually redeemed people as a group and needed the gospel of salvation ever much as did the Gentiles. It is incorrect to think of Old Testament Israel as a spiritually redeemed people of God. They were physically redeemed and God worked through them in a powerful way to bring about salvation in Jesus Christ, but they were NOT a spiritually redeemed nation. Paul points this out clearly in Romans 9:27 where he affirms that only a remnant would be saved.
