41) With a new covenant comes a new priest

Ephesians 2:18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

In the old covenant, access to the Father was for the Jewish people only and that was only through the mediation of a Jewish priest. In the new covenant, access to God has been opened to both Jews and Gentiles through Christ by one Spirit. Jesus is prophet, priest, and king for new covenant believers and He is our mediator. This is hardly a continuation of single covenant, but a new covenant founded on better promises such as this access. As Hebrews 8:8-9 states the new covenant is NOT LIKE the old covenant.
